Wednesday

Fishing Trip

Join the groom and his dad reliving some childhood angling adventures on the high-seas. The boat leaves from the Berkeley marina at 6:00 AM sharp passing near Alcatraz Island and going under the Golden Gate Bridge on its way out to the Farallon Islands several miles out into the ocean. The fishermen and their bounty of Rock and Ling Cod return to Berkeley around 3:30 PM.

It’s a bit pricey for a spot on the boat and all your gear, but it’s well worth it for the convenience—all you need to bring is food, water, sunscreen, and (of course) beer. Dramamine is also nice to have handy for a bouncy day on the ocean. I think the best part is the boat ride on the water where sharks, dolphins, and whales often make appearances to get in on the action. If you’re around on Wednesday morning, please join us. Make your reservations at http://www.berkeleysportfishing.com and meet us at the dock at 5:30 AM.

Friday
Wine Tasting and Picnic at Pedroncelli’s Winery

http://www.pedroncelli.com

Pedroncelli's in Sonoma County will give a free winery tour to everyone and wine tasting. They have a picnic area they are letting us use, and we will provide burgers/picnic food. We will then go to other area wineries for tasting. In that area most wineries have free tasting (not the case in Napa).

RSVP by email if you are coming so we can give the winery an approximate head count, and we can get enough food.

Transportation Options:
After RSVPing, meet us at the Marin Suites Hotel parking lot at 10:45 AM on Friday morningto join the carpool and caravan for the one-hour drive to the winery. Believe us, carpooling for wine-tasting has its advantages!

Other Area Wineries

Alternatively, you can just meet us there at 12:00 PM by following these driving directions from the hotel:
Get on US-101 North in Corte Madera and drive for 62 miles. Take the Canyon Road exit off of 101 in Geyserville, take a left at the stop sign onto Canyon Rd/ CA-128, and drive for about a mile. The sign for the winery will be clearly visible. Parking will be available in the Pedroncelli lot.
Saturday Afternoon
Bachelor's Ride

The groom will be hosting a road bike ride from Corte Madera to the top of Mt. Tamalpais via Mill Valley and back at a leisurely, “no-drop” pace. The ride will be open to everyone with a bike, especially to all visiting former Cal team members! For other visitors interested, I will very likely be able to get a bike for you to borrow if you let me know in advance what your frame size is. So don’t let the lack of a bike stop you from coming out with us!

The ride will likely be about two hours or so. There is quite a bit of strenuous climbing to the uninitiated, but with low enough gearing, the view from the top of Mt. Tam as SO worth it! If there is interest, a longer version could return via the awesome Bolinas/Fairfax route to the north.

Meet in front of the Marin Suites Hotel at 11:30 AM ready to go with water and food.

Saturday Afternoon
Bachelorette’s Stroll among the Redwoods

The bride will be hosting a trip to Muir Woods National Monument to the south of Mt. Tamalpais. This is one of the greatest natural treasures in the Bay Area.

This outing is geared for anyone looking to get outdoors and enjoy a family-oriented, leisurely walk among these California coastal giants. The park has something for everyone interest level, from short, flat, well-maintained interpretive trails to rugged hikes to the coast.

If interested, meet in the Marin Suites parking lot at 11:30 AM to carpool and caravan to Muir Woods. Alternatively, you can drive there:
From Corte Madera, take US-101 South towards San Francisco for three miles. Take the CA-1 exit towards Stinson Beach and turn right at the stop sign on Shoreline Highway. For three miles, follow the highway veering left twice to remain on CA-1. Turn right on Panoramic Highway following the signs to Muir Woods. Less than a mile later, take a left onto Muir Woods Road and follow the road into the parking area.
By the time you get to the monument, you will understand how popular it can be on a beautiful Saturday afternoon!
Saturday Evening
Bonfire at Ocean Beach

The bride and groom will be hosting a night beach party at the west end of Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. Anyone know the words and chords to Kumbaya? J We will provide drinks and s’mores ingredients. Guests should bring windjackets, warm-clothing, snacks (optional) as well as beach blankets or chairs to sit-on. It will be chilly away from the fire so a few extra blankets are always a good idea—especially if you’re brave enough to jump in the water. Please note that glass and alcoholic beverages are prohibited and enforcement by the park service is very strict (that is, they’ll kick the offenders and everyone in their party off of the beach) especially after 10 pm.

Directions to Bonfire from Rehearsal Dinner:
Head southwest on Howard St. (restaurant on your left) for a few blocks. Turn right on 9th Street. Ninth Street becomes Hayes Street as you cross Market St. and veer left. A few blocks later on Hayes St, get into the right-most left-turn lane onto Gough St so that you can make the left turn and then almost immediately take the right turn onto Fell St. Follow Fell St. for a mile or two as it curves left and dumps onto Kezar Drive. Kezar Drive, in turn, will curve right again as it enters Golden Gate Park and dumps onto Lincoln Way. With the park now on your right, drive for about three miles until taking a right-hand turn at the three-way intersection with Great Highway. Move over to the left lane and turn into the parking lot for Ocean Beach. Follow the signs near Stairwell 16 to the Dale/Reichardt bonfire.
Directions to Bonfire from 101 in Marin County:
Take US-101 South towards San Francisco. Go over the Golden Gate Bridge ($5.00 toll) and take the exit for CA-1 S towards 19th Avenue/Golden Gate Park. As you pass through the park a few miles later, take a right onto Lincoln Way. Head west on Lincoln until taking a right-hand turn at the three-way intersection with Great Highway. Move over to the left lane and turn into the parking lot for Ocean Beach. Follow the signs near Stairwell 16 to the Dale/Reichardt bonfire.
Directions from Ocean Beach back to Hotel:
From Great Highway, heading north (ocean to your left) take a right onto Fulton Street. Take Fulton St. (with the park to your right) until you turn left onto CA-1 (which is just after 14th Ave.) Take CA-1 through the Presidio and merge onto US-101 North. Head back over the bridge (no toll) and into Marin County.
